It was a home win when the Romsey School hosted four rival teams for the regional round of this year’s Hampshire Literary Quiz. Teams of four pupils from Years 7, 8 and 9 competed in the quiz, which was run by Hampshire School Library Service.
Colm McKavanagh, Head Teacher of The Romsey School was the question master and pupils were tested on their knowledge of books from early childhood favourites through popular teen fiction to the classics.
After eight closely fought rounds Romsey were declared the winners with Thornden School taking second place.
The Romsey team (pictured above) Philip Gibbs, Edward Osborne, Sophie Lambert and Ellen Stewart received book tokens and the Lit Quiz cup.
Mr McKavanagh said he was extremely impressed with their range of book knowledge.
The Romsey will now go forward to the county final in at Winchester Discovery Centre.
