PUPILS at a school in Fordingbridge are celebrating after a record-breaking number secured scholarships.

A total of 20 scholarships have been won by students at Forres Sandle Manor School, to seven different senior schools, including Sherborne School for Girls, King’s College (Taunton), Bryanston, Godolphin, Dauntsey’s, Clayesmore and Bede’s.

Awards have been won in all areas, including academic, music, art, sport, design and technology along with “all rounder” honours.

Headmaster Mark Hartley said: “We are tremendously proud of all our Year 8 scholars and highly commend them for their wonderful and richly deserved achievements, especially as a few children have won more than one.

“We help all of the children to achieve their potential by having the freedom to teach them creatively, to give them opportunities to explore and find something they are passionate about, by igniting the spark of an interest and letting them run with it.”

The school is holding an open morning on Saturday from 10am until noon.
