SOUTHAMPTON’S next generation of artists have been putting their talents on show at an exhibition they staged themselves.

As part of the degree course at Southampton Solent University second year fine art students were given the task of curating and exhibiting their own exhibition in the impressive surroundings of the Bargate.

As a result 21 works of art have been put on display for the past few days, which showcase their talent.

Associate lecturer Sarah Filmer said the event was a valuable way of giving the students the skills needed to stage their own exhibitions in the future.

She said: “I think they have been amazing. The way the work has been exhibited and presented has been superb. The whole exhibition has been done to a very high standard, particularly when you consider they have not yet completed their second year of the course. I am just really proud of them.”
