A HAMPSHIRE school is celebrating after lifting the Hampshire Schools County Cup Final for the first time in its history.

Crofton School clinched the trophy after beating All Hallows 5-1 at Farnborough FC’s ground.

PE teachers Paul Williams and Adam Playford said they were immensely proud of their team who excelled in the final.

They saidstated: “We are really pleased for all of the boys, they’ve worked so hard and fully deserve all of the plaudits they get. The quality of football which they play is simply excellent and they work so hard for one another.

“You usually have one or two stand-out players in any team but we’re lucky that every single one of our boys is very talented. You could see they were brimming with pride at the final whistle and I hope that this is only the beginning of a long and successful school football team.”

The match started at a high tempo with both teams battling for possession, despite All Hallows scoring first Crofton did not let their heads drop and continued to battle hard.

In fact The goal proved to be the catalyst which spurred the Crofton side on and soon a cross was delivered for Kai Sterne to slot the ball past the All Hallows goalkeeper.

After drawing level, Crofton kicked on and in the space of five minutes managed to score twice more.

Then Before the supporting family members and teachers even had a chance to take their seats, Baran Sener applied pressure straight from the kick-off intercepted a pass and played a delicate through ball to Kai Sterne which allowed him to burst into the penalty area and put Crofton even further ahead.

Crofton’s fourth goal came courtesy from a moment of technical brilliance from Baran Sener who struck a free kick from 25 yards which dipped just under the crossbar and sent the team into the half-time break three goals to the good.

The second half proved to be a lot more cagey but saw a fifth and final goal all but secured the win for Crofton.

Jubilation ensued on the final whistle and Crofton were crowned champions of the Hampshire Schools' County Cup. A fantastic all round performance which capped a fine season by the whole team.
