PUPILS at a Hampshire school turned their hand to art when a visitor from the world of art and illustration paid a visit.
Tony De Saulles, best known for his work in the best-selling series of Horrible Science books, spent a day at Oliver’s Battery primary school and inspired the children by teaching them a range of illustration techniques.
The workshops were very interactive, and the children were able to suggest what they would like him to add to his drawing - as well as drawing along with him to produce their own fantastic works of art.
Pupil Ellie Dawkins said: “It was a really good experience. He taught us to draw some funny pictures.”
Headteacher Fey Wood said: “We were delighted to welcome Tony to our school. The children were thoroughly engaged and excited to have the opportunity to meet someone so talented and who so obviously enjoys the work that he does.
"This experience complements the curriculum for art and design in both Key Stage 1 and 2 by developing the children’s skills in drawing and learning.”
