Fareham College is promoting the importance of work-based learning by holding an Apprenticeship Open Evening this month.

Aimed at students who might be wondering what to do next after school and keen to find out more about work-based learning, the Open Evening on June 16th will provide the opportunity to talk to employers who are looking to recruit, and have an interview for vacancies that are currently available.

Representatives from companies including the NHS, Captec, The Rainbow Centre and Barratt Homes will be in attendance to promote potential opportunities within their organisations.

The benefits of becoming an apprentice are wide ranging; apprentices have the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification and develop professional skills, while earning a salary, inside some of the area’s best companies.

Claire Middleton, Business Development Manager at Fareham College says: “Most employers take on apprentices with a view to, where possible, give them a job at the end.

"Many employers report an increase in staff morale as the company sees them investing in young people, and the apprentice benefits from gaining a formal qualification along the way, as well as daily practical experience.

"Employers like the hands-on, technical skills apprentices can offer.

"As well as an excellent route to employment, Apprenticeships can also lead to a degree in some subject areas as well.”
