Students were working on both sides of the camera for a fashion shoot at a Hampshire sixth form college.

Textiles and photography students teamed up Itchen College to take part in the Art & Design Fashion Shoot.

Photography teacher Tim Riggs and textiles teacher Annabelle Shaw were on hand to co-ordinate the shoot, which featured designs created by the students throughout the year.

Music played in the background as models were fitted into their outfits, make-up applied and hair styled to perfection.

Around 35 textile students, a mix of a mix of AS and A2, were involved in the shoot, including designing, putting on models’ make-up and doing the models’ hair, as well as modelling and advising models during the shoot. Some designers also asked friends from outside the course to help for the day.

AS Textile student Poppy Sheppard amazed with how quickly she picked up professional techniques, despite never having studied the subject before.0 A2 student Leanne Taylor modelled her own stunning dress, complete with handmade flowers which took two weeks to prepare.

Talking about her creation, she said that she had been inspired by the works of Alexander McQueen and the theme of decay in nature.

Downstairs in the photography class, the room had been set up professionally with lighting, a white backdrop, and plenty of cameras. Here five photography students snapped the pictures while the designers helped to co-ordinate their models’ look.

Images were late put into Photoshop, where the digital mastery would begin.

The results can be added to the students’ personal portfolios, which they can take job or university interviews.

Their work at the shoot will contribute to the upcoming Art Show 2015, hosted by Itchen from June 24 to July 13.
