Itchen Sixth Form College principal Barry Hicks began the event by praising the hard work of the teaching staff, as well as the achievements of the Academy of Sport and Uniformed Public Services.
Looking to the future, he said he was confident that the Creative Arts Academy, launching in October, will be just as successful.
The Award for Outstanding Contribution to College Life went to Kindman Tang who received a standing ovation.
His citation began: “...it is some achievement it is some achievement to be known by name by every single member of staff at Itchen.”
His long list of activities at the college included being a student union member, student ambassador, charity fundraiser, rugby team member and poster designer.
Southampton University for Outstanding Achievement went to Spanish student Elvia Ricote who completed her Biology and Chemistry AS and A2 course in just one year despite studying in her second language.

The prize for Outstanding Team Effort went to the Ladies Under-19 football team, who were national college champions for the second year running.
The team’s star striker Millie Farrow, who plays for Chelsea Ladies, won the award for Outstanding Achievement in Sport. She scored six goals in this year’s national finals and was also a member of the college's triumphant beach rugby team.
Following the presentation of awards, a representative from Bitterne-based design company BandV, spoke to the students about things he wish he had known at 18, encouraging students to say yes to any opportunity.
