IT is the highlight of their school year as they end the term on a high.

Students at Bitterne Park Secondary School enjoyed their end of year celebration in the form of their 'Big Picnic'.

Over the past six years, the school has organised the event which is a reward to all students at Bitterne Park for their hard work and achievements over the year.

It is also an opportunity for new and emerging bands to play to over 1000 pupils on the school field with such bands at the Delays, The Revs. Simon Webbe from Blue and Charlie Wheeler performing.

This year saw a line up which included Insomnia, Groove Merchant, Rich Cottell, Just Millie, Prime Kingz (ex X Factor), The Novatones and Hometown (Louis Walsh’s new Irish boy band).

Deputy headteacher Pan Panayiotou said: "The Big Picnic is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate with our students their achievements and for new emerging talent to showcase themselves to new fans."
