A HAMPSHIRE university has been shortlisted for an education “Oscar”.

Southampton Solent University is one five nominated in the Most Improved Student Experience category at the prestigious Times Higher Education Awards 2015.

Solent will be up against Canterbury Christ Church University, University of Chester, University of Derby and University of Gloucester.

Vice-chancellor Graham Baldwin says: “We are delighted to be nominated in this category. Our approach has always been creative, inclusive and student-focussed, putting students at the heart of all that we do and it’s great to see the hard work and commitment of our staff recognised in this way by the students themselves.”

The winner will be announced on November 26 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
