YOUNGSTERS were given a special treat when they got a masterclass from two of the country’s top chefs.

Andy Stephenson and Tom Pemberton put on their aprons and joined level three catering students at Fareham College’s Avenue 141 restaurant.

Andy who now runs the award winning Hallidays restaurant in West Sussex and Tom who co-founded the Hereford Road restaurant in London led the students in cooking a five course meal for diners featuring ox heart, Scotch eggs, hairspring watercress and venison.

The special visit was organised to help boost students’ confidence and boost their skills as they learn from successful chefs.

Student James Clancy said: “It’s great when guest chefs come into the College. It’s a great opportunity to speak to them to find out their own experiences in the industry and it’s also a chance to learn some new and different techniques. They are both really adventurous with their cooking.”
