STUDENTS danced the school year away in glorious sunshine today.

Bitterne Park School hosted its sixth annual Big Picnic which saw the grounds of the school transformed into a music festival.

Around 1,300 pupils enjoyed live music fromsinger and rapper I AM, as well as band Groove Merchant and other school artists.

There was also the chance to take part in other fun activities including a silent disco and Zorb football at the school in Copsewood Road.

The Big Picnic was created as a reward to all students at Bitterne Park for their hard work and effort over the year.

Deputy headteacher Pan Panayiotou, said: "It was really exciting for the students and a good way to reward them and celebrate their achievements.

"The students were really excited to see the performances and it was a good way to say thank you for all their hard work.

"I would also like to thank Paul Overton for organising the headline acts."
