DOZENS of aspiring toe-tappers have been working with two top companies to produce an exciting new dance piece to be performed on the Mayflower stage this weekend.

Acclaimed Hampshire company ZoieLogic and Birmingham Royal Ballet, one of the world’s best classical ballet companies, have been putting talented youngsters through their paces at Southampton Solent University this week.

Inspired by Guys and Dolls, the sizzling Broadway show being put on by Mayflower Productions tomorrow and Saturday, the brand new dance show will follow on Sunday.

Andy Kent, Mayflower Theatre’s Engage Manager, told the Daily Echo: “ZoieLogic will be working with our young male dancers and Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB) will be working with our young female dancers before combining both styles and technique. We are extremely proud of the hard work of everyone involved and can’t wait to see the unique live dance performance”

The intensive rehearsal project, pictured, has taken place in the run up to the launch of two new degree courses at the university. BA (Hons) Musical Theatre and BA (Hons) Acting and Performance will complement Southampton Solent’s existing BA (Hons) Performance course.

Zoie Golding, artistic director or ZoieLogic Dance Theatre specialises in challenging perceptions of men in dance and has been working with the ‘guys’ while Rebecca Thomas from BRB Birmingham Royal Ballet helps the ‘dolls’ element of the project.

Tickets for the show, at 2pm on Sunday, are available by calling 023 8071 1811 or visiting mayflower.org.uk
