RED HAND GANG: The youngsters get their hands dirty. Order no: 6302482 Echo pictures by Matthew Watson

HUNDREDS of Southampton youngsters joined the Chamberlayne Holiday Half Term Club for a host of fun-filled games.

Dodgeball proved one of the more popular sports but the children enjoyed a host of activities including football, baking tasty cakes and a disco.

Up to 30 kids a day dropped in to the centre on Weston Lane and were encouraged to bring in board games as well as getting their hands dirty by taking part in arts and crafts.

Tracey Taylor, who helped organise the week, said: "It's gone very well this year and has proved more popular than previous years.

"There are many more activities on offer this year including X-box 360s where you have to exercise on a bicycle in order to get them to work."
