Upham Junior spells out success in Ofsted report

PUPILS and staff at a village primary school have signalled their success after receiving top marks from Ofsted.

Inspectors said the school sought to provide the best for each child both academically and socially.

Children at Upham CE Primary were found to achieve "high standards" and "achieve outstandingly", preparing them well for secondary school.

That's why inspectors from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) described the 98-pupil school as "outstanding" - the highest grade possible.

They singled out the "robust" assessment methods designed to keep track of pupils' progress and complimented teachers for pitching tasks at the right level for pupils of different abilities.

Inspectors also found that no child was overlooked in the Upham school thanks to its "family atmosphere"

where children were praised for working hard.

Head teacher PamThrelfall was complimented for getting the best from her staff so that teaching is of "a consistently high quality".

She said: "Children, staff, parents, governors and friends of Upham Church of England Primary School were delighted with the outcome of their recent Ofsted.

"The school was judged outstanding in every respect. Such a positive outcome reflects the commitment and professionalism of everyone associated with the school."

The school in has also achieved a gold Artsmark award, an Activemark and Healthy Schools Award.
