Candidate for: Winchester
Party: Conservative
Votes: 27,155
Profile:
INSTALLING a Tory MP in the marginal Winchester constituency is vital to bring change at Westminster, according to Conservative candidate Steve Brine.
He said the seat will be one of those that decides whether the nation wakes up after election day with five more years of Gordon Brown or a new Government led by David Cameron.
Mr Brine said constituents had the opportunity to vote that change - to elect a new MP and Government.
He stressed he was a local family man who has lived with his partner Susie in Winchester for many years. He said they decided it was a great place bring up their family. The couple now have a two year daughter, Emily, and live right in the heart of constituency.
For the past three years Mr Brine said he had worked really hard to focus on the issues that matter to the area: fighting for the future of the local health service, protecting the area from over-development (including consistent opposition to 2,000 houses at Barton Farm), recognising the threats posed by climate change and speaking up for many of the services residents all rely on.
Mr Brine pledged to serve the area as a hard-working and dedicated local MP who "puts constituents before party".
He said: "This election will be close so please remember when you vote, we need a Conservative MP in Winchester if we are going to change the government at Westminster."
