Former Liberal Democrat stands again – as Conservative
A FORMER Liberal Democrat city councillor is standing again - for the Conservatives.
Ann Jones represented St John and All Saints ward, that covers Winnall and Highcliffe, from 1998 until she lost her seat in 2003.
She stood again unsuccessfully for the Lib Dems in Kings Worthy in 2006.
Therese Evans, Lib Dem leader, said: "It's disappointing that someone who has stood for the Lib Dems several times, as recently as 2006, should now stand for the Conservatives."
Tory leader George Beckett said: "The Lord welcomes any sinner who repents, does he not? Anyone who sees the light is welcome."
Despite repeated attempts by the Daily Echo to contact her, Mrs Jones was unavailable for comment. She is the second Liberal Democrat councillor to defect to the Tories.
