THERE is still limited public access to Romsey War Memorial Park following the winter floods.

Council chiefs have opened some parts but others remain out-of-bounds to the public.

Water levels have subsided but council officials are still cleaning up after debris and waste water affected the popular open space which has Green Flag status.

But the children’s play area was damaged by floodwater and will need to be repaired before it can be used again.

A council spokesman said: “Romsey War Memorial Park has been partially re-opened with some areas cordoned off behind a temporary fence.

“Signs are in place to inform the public that the children’s play area is out of action.

“Further signs remind visitors to stick to the pathways. The council will continue its efforts to clear up the remaining areas as the water levels drop further.”
