HE’S about to become a poster-pooch for rescue dogs everywhere.

Seven-year-old Radar, a large Munsterlander from the Isle of Wight, will represent August in the Kennel Club’s 2015 Breed Rescue Calendar.

Radar became a rescue dog after his previous owner became too ill to look after him and he was taken to Larger Munsterlander Rescue, a breed-specific rescue organisation.

And through them he was taken in by Peter and Jane Munnoch, who scooped a free supply of Eukanuba dog food thanks to Radar’s win.

Peter said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Radar has been chosen as August’s dog in the Kennel Club Breed Rescue calendar and will help raise money for other rescue dogs in need and promote the great work done by Large Munsterlander Rescue, who are great at finding the right homes for the dogs they rescue.

“After Radar came to us we gradually gained his trust and he became so affectionate, always wanting to join in with everything – particularly swimming and sailing. He really is a great ambassador for the breed.”

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, added: “We are thrilled to have a dog as lovely as Radar as our dog for August and hope it encourages dog lovers on the Isle of Wight to support dog rescue by buying a Breed Rescue Calendar for 2015.”
