THEY are top of the class when it comes to saving energy.
Pupils have won a competition to find the educational establishment that is doing the most to help the environment.
Children from Morgans Vale & Woodfalls Primary School see below beat three other finalists in the New Forest contest.
The school has already installed a wind turbine and is looking at the possibility of investing in a ground source heat pump in a further attempt to save energy.
Staff and pupils were presented with a £750 cash prize after outlining their eco-friendly strategy.
Bartley Junior School finished runner-up, just ahead of Hyde Primary School. The other finalist was Sopley Primary School.
Prizes and certificates were presented by BBC South presenter Jo Kent, who said: “The competition was a great way to recognise and reward the passion and commitment that the children clearly have for saving energy and living more sustainably.
"I’m glad I only had to present the prizes and not judge the entries because it would have been really hard.”
The New Forest Transition and Community Energy Saving Project held the contest at the Treehouse Study Centre in Beaulieu.
Organisations involved in the event included Solar-century, which built the West Solent Solar Farm at Lymington last summer.
