THE curse of flytipping has again raised its ugly head in Hampshire, blighting the lives of residents.

But as well as the normal trash dumped by the roadside, those living near Romsey were shocked when they woke up to discover a speedboat left high and dry miles from Southampton Water.

Stunned by the unusual finding, resident Bob Lakin took this photo of the boat in Hackleys Lane, East Wellow.

Mr Lakin, a school bus driver, from Whitenap, said: “It’s a filthy eyesore, and shows complete contempt for other people. It shows no respect for springtime, nature or the beauty of the place.”

He thinks it was dumped overnight on Thursday-Friday, April 29-30.

Meanwhile residents in Lordswood, Southampton, were disgusted to find a mountain of rubbish dumped in woodland off Aldermoor Road.

One local resident said: “This is not the first time that we have had fly-tipping in our Aldermoor historic woods. There is no excuse, it is dangerous for children and walkers.

“Some of us always feared this sort of bad behaviour would increase when the council brought in a financial cost for taken away household rubbish.

“Last year we had a large amount of asbestos dumped here. It really is reprehensible.”

These latest incidents come just a few days after lives were put at risk when flytippers dumped a five-tonne mountain of rubbish which blocked a vital access route to a Hampshire care home.

As previously reported, angry staff at Sundial Cottage Residential Home, in Fawley, said the huge haul of fly-tipped trash could have had severe consequences if an ambulance needed to get through.

An investigation by New Forest District Council found no evidence to link the bricks, wood and rubble left in Badminstone Drove, to those responsible.
