TONY Juniper – campaigner, writer and well-known environmentalist – has been appointed president of the Wildlife Trusts.
His recent book What Nature Does For Britain is essential reading for anyone unconvinced that a healthy environment is essential for our economy and society, and featured Hampshire & Isle of Wight Trust’s work on the River Itchen among other projects.
Tony served as executive director of Friends of the Earth, England, Wales and Northern Ireland and was vice chairman of Friends of the Earth International from 2000–2008.
He was the Green Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Cambridge constituency at the 2010 general election.
It’s exciting to have a new advocate on board, and we look forward to working with him to make the case for bigger, better and joined up spaces for nature.
