Since Hollywood actress Demi Moore stripped off and revealed her pregnant bump to the world, mums-to-be everywhere have followed suit. The iconic shoot for Vanity Fair caused global controversy in 1991. Yet today pregnancy photo shoots have lost much of their old taboo and mums everywhere are doing it.
For after-school club supervisor Cally Mirahmadi, 23, her pregnancy was such a special time that she wanted to capture it forever. So with her engineer husband Michael, 24, she “did a Demi” and took part in a naked photo shoot with photographer Tina Bolton. The couple from Fair Oak were delighted with the results, writes SARAH JONES.
“WHEN my daughter Ava is older, I can’t wait to say to her: “Look, that’s you in mummy’s tummy!”
I’m so pleased with the photos and look at them every day. Once you have your baby you forget what shape your body was. Ava is nearly five months old now and I’m back to the size eight I was before I got pregnant.
I wasn’t worried about getting bigger at all. We wanted to have the baby and I was really excited to see all the changes happening to my body.
It’s amazing to have a baby inside of you and whenever I look at the photos it reminds me of that special time.
We were childhood sweethearts and met at The Gregg School in Southampton. We have been together since we were 14.
Ava will be able to treasure the photos for years, they really capture how happy we were that I was pregnant.
Everyone who has seen them says they are beautiful. Most of the pictures are in our bedroom and there’s one in Ava’s room.
I don’t know where I got the idea from – I wanted them to remind me of being pregnant, but I wanted them to be really natural.
When I came across Tina’s website I just absolutely loved the photos, they really capture what it’s like to be pregnant.
My husband Michael really liked the idea.
We were both nervous to start with but as soon as we got there it was a really relaxed atmosphere and it was a really enjoyable experience.
I was seven months pregnant at the time of the shoot and felt great.
I had morning sickness at the beginning but after that passed I felt really good.
We would probably like to have three children and I would do the same for all of them. It’s just such a nice thing to show each child.”
