PUPILS at a Southampton primary school have kept away today after several staff reported suffering from a sickness bug.

The nursery, year R and Year 1 children at Banister Primary were all told to stay home today due to the number of staff off school with the bug.

According to the school parents of the affected classes were informed last night that they should not come into school today.

A number of children have also reported not feeling well.

A spokesman for Banister Primary on Archers Road said that the school would re-open to pupils tomorrow, except for the nursery which would remain closed.

It is the second time in recent weeks a Southampton school has had to close due to illness. King Edward VI school closed recently due to an outbreak of gastroenteritis.
