HEALTH experts will mark World Diabetes Day with a special event in Southampton tomorrow.
Specialists at Southampton General Hospital are running an information stand at the Spice of Life restaurant on B level from 10am to 2pm.
Led by consultant Dr Mayank Patel, the event aims to increase understanding of the condition and improve patients’ health and lifestyle.
Dr Patel said: “Latest figures show that around 15 per cent – 160 – of all adult patients at Southampton General and the Princess Anne hospital have diabetes, which can complicate their medical management.
“Our charity Sugarfall enables is helping us to fund specialist equipment and educational material to better support hospital patients with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes and we hope people will take the opportunity to come and speak to us to find out more.”
The event is organised in partnership with charity Diabetes UK and Diabetes Research and Wellness Federation.
