THEY are little bundles of joy that made the best Christmas gift.

Several couples across Hampshire welcomed new additions to the family on Christmas Day.

There were 13 children born at Princess Anne Hospital in Southampton, while two more were born at its sister site, the New Forest Birth Centre.

Clare McGuire and partner Joe Jarvie had sat down to Christmas Dinner and were preparing for a relaxing night in at home in Hedge End when Clare went into labour and was rushed to hospital at 9pm.

She gave birth to Millie Joy, who weighed seven pounds and eight ounces, and the couple could not be happier.

Clare, 35, a nurse, said: “Everyone here was amazing, especially my midwife Chantal Gibbons. I'm just so pleased.”

Recruitment consultant Joe, 28, added: “I either wanted a dressing gown or a daughter for Christmas so I'm very happy!”

And 26-year-old Sophie Jenner from Thornhill just missed out on a Christmas Day baby when son Freddie was born at 11pm on Christmas Eve, her first son after four daughters.
