A TEENAGER battling cancer has had the bike that helped him with his recovery stolen.

Billy Morgan was diagnosed with leukaemia two years ago and needed a way to keep active to keep his strength up while undergoing treatment.

Two months ago a cancer charity rallied to raise money and buy him a £600 Trek 3700 bicycle.

The 17-year-old from Shirley, Southampton, used it every day to get to his work apprenticeship at Carillion Construction but the bike was taken while he visited a friend’s house in Winchester Road.

The bike had been donated by the charity Cycling for Cancer, and Billy’s doctors had encouraged him to increase his exercise as it can help to regulate blood flow, which helps to relieve discomfort in leukaemia patients as the illness attacks blood cells.

Daily Echo:

Billy’s dad Leigh, 45 said: “I just think it’s disgraceful. He had only had it a couple of months.

“It’s a lovely bike and people have admired it before when Billy has been out, which was a bit worrying, but this is disgusting.

“He was at a friend’s house and it was in their back garden with some other people’s bikes but only his was taken. What sort of person would do that?

“We can’t think what else to do other than ask anyone who has seen it to come forward because there is only so much the police can do without witnesses.”

The bike is white with black stickers and the spokes in the wheel are red. It was stolen in the early hours of Sunday, February 9, before 10am.
