A CANCER charity is urging people in Hampshire and across the country to take part in a charity challenge.

Bowel Cancer UK will hold its Stand Out to Stop Bowel Cancer one-day charity challenge on July 3.

Anyone who wants to take part is asked to wear something that day to make them stand out from the crowd.

The challenge comes after the charity carried out the biggest ever survey of people diagnosed with bowel cancer under the age of 50 as part of its Never Too Young campaign.

The results highlight an alarming lack of awareness of bowel cancer as a condition that can affect younger people and delays in diagnosis resulting from a failure to act on symptoms.

Around 2,100 people under the age of 50 diagnosed with bowel cancer every year in the UK. And there has been a 25 per cent increase in the number of under 50s diagnosed in the past 10 years.
