A HAMPSHIRE mum is officially an ACE parent.

Donna Jackson, from Armstrong Rise, Charlton, near Andover, received the accolade for the way she takes care of her daughter Frankie, who has Down's syndrome, whilst also supporting other parents, fundraising and working full time.

The competition was launched by ACE Gentle in a bid to find parents that do amazing things for their children.

Donna was nominated by her friend Vivien Tarrant because of the way she "treats her daughter like any other baby girl making sure that Frankie has the world at her feet".

In her nominator Vivien mentioned how Donna writes a regular blog, ‘Frankie Says Relax about T21’, has so far raised £3,700 for Action for Children’s Acorn Centre in Andover and offers support and advice to others parents of children with Down's syndrome.

As well as the accolade being named Hampshire’s ACE Parent, Spinnaker Tower has donated a family ticket as a prize. Donna said: “I’m a little gobsmacked and overwhelmed by Vivien’s nomination, but I’m probably like any other parent and just do what is best for my child."

“I wouldn’t change anything about Frankie, she’s awesome.

“I would like to say a big thank you to my husband Scott, who is my rock and such a great father, and also to ACE Gentle for choosing me as the winner.

“We look forward to our trip to Spinnaker Tower.”

Kevin Day, from Robinson Young, UK distributor for ACE, added: “A big congratulations to Donna, she is a much deserved winner of our Hampshire’s ACE Parent award and we hope she enjoys her prize.

“Our search is about finding parents who do amazing things but don’t necessarily receive the recognition they deserve, which is certainly the case with Donna.”

ACE Gentle’s Britain’s ACE Parent awards have been taking place all over the country.

Donna Jackson will now be entered into ACE Gentle’s grand final, where four of the 12 regional winners will be chosen as the overall ACE parents and be awarded with a special prize.
