TWO false fire alarms were triggered at Southampton General Hospital last night, causing fire crews to rush to the busy hospital.

At around midnight last night, firefighters from Redbridge and St Mary’s fire stations were called to the hospital after the alarm had been triggered.

They used thermal imaging cameras to assess the danger and discovered a build up of steam had set off the fire alarm.

But the fire crews were called back just an hour later at 1am after the fire alarm went off again.

Steam had once again caused the alarm to be triggered and firefighters cleared the steam and reset the alarm.
