    M27 accident causes delays

A SIX-vehicle accident between junctions two and three of the eastbound carriageway of the M27 has caused lengthy delays for motorists this evening.

Two lanes have been closed following the accident causing delays of up to ten minutes during rush hour traffic.

Firefighters helped remove several passengers from their vehicles as ambulance staff treated them for minor injuries at the side of the road.

No one is thought to be seriously injured and traffic is expected to return to normal at around 6.45pm.

One person was taken to Southampton General Hospital with minor injuries.

The accident followed an earlier four-vehicle crash on the same stretch of motorway that caused lengthy delays.

One woman was taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries at 2.40pm.
