A HAMPSHIRE grandfather is set to win £100,000 if his six-month-old grandson plays rugby union for England by the age of 25.

Les Heyhoe, of St Vincent Road, Gosport, was so impressed when baby George Brown threw a rugby ball-shaped balloon to him, that he decided to place a bet on his future ability in the game.

The 51-year-old has placed a £100 bet at 1,000/1 odds with William Hill that George will play for his country by the time he is 25.

Mr Heyhoe said: ''I wouldn't have wasted the money if I didn't think there was a chance.

''He's got a long way to go before he gets there because he can't quite sit up on his own at the moment, but he could do it.

''I won't pressure him though - he could hate rugby and turn out to be a ballerina.''

Hmmm?

100,000 in 25 years time will be 1000 pounds now.

I hope future England selectors dont pick him

Wow, no pressure on the grandson then.

I'll laugh if he grew up hating rugby and loving football.

Adrian,

I think your maths is a little suspect. Can you spot at least one of your two mistakes?

Best,

Adrian.

Actually, assuming inflation at 3%, £100k in £25 years time will be the equvilent of £46,697 in todays money - still a tidy sum
