TV personality Esther Rantzen opened a new facility at a Hampshire school that has been donated by a local firm hoping to provide the building blocks for sporting success.
The former That's Life presenter and ChildLine founder, who lives at Bramshaw in the New Forest, took an assembly at Freegrounds Junior School in Hedge End, before unveiling the new boules court constructed thanks to donated materials from Foreman Homes.
Head teacher Malcolm Barrett said: "The visit from Esther was an exciting experience for the children and the brand new boules court will give the children a stimulating new sport to enjoy.
"We know it will be very well used as one of our parents plays boules for the national team and is coaching the pupils."
