A MOTHER told a court how she shopped her own son to the police because she believed he had beaten a man and left him for dead.
Hilary Kellett, pictured, said she was violently sick at the thought her "own flesh and blood" could have been responsible for the terrible injuries suffered by Scott Speirs during an attack in a Southampton park.
Jurors heard that she had given her son Liam Edwards's name to officers after hearing Mr Speirs' mum pleading for someone to come forward with information about the brutal assault. The victim is still in a coma six months later.
Edwards, 27, and his friend Adam Stebbing,32, are on trial for the attempted murder of Mr Speirs, 34. They are accused of leaving him fighting for life after stamping on his head at least 12 times. They both deny the charge.
