FOR a little bear, she's certainly seen life.

Scarlett Bear travelled has across the country, and even made it to America and Belgium.

The little teddy bear has been to the Crufts dog show and has now even met the Prime Minister - all in the name of charity.

Scarlett Bear belongs to Lucy Pleasants, 7, who has agreed to part with her beloved soft toy and send her off travelling.

The bear has been posted all over the UK, from London to Coventry and from the Peak District to Cardiff in Wales. She has even made it as far as Chattanooga and Kissimmee in America.

Last month, Scarlett Bear met Gordon Brown while on a visit to London with Lucy's grandmother Brenda Pleasants.

Everyone around the world who has looked after the bear since it began its travels last October has paid a donation and so far £500 has been raised for the charity Greyhound Gap.

Lucy, a pupil at Park Gate Primary School in Southampton, originally sent her teddy bear away as part of a school project towards the City of Southampton Civic Award - but it has become so popular the bear is booked up for the next year.

Mum Heidi, from Titchfield Common, said: "Lucy came up with the idea herself. We have been involved in dog rescue and dog fostering over the years, so she wanted to do something to raise money for Greyhound Gap, a charity for rescued Greyhounds.

"It's been really successful with friends and people involved with the charity and Scarlett Bear is pre-booked through to next year already. People have been posting the bear from one place to the next - she hasn't got lost yet, and many of them are sending cards and gifts back to us."
