YEAR 4 and 5 pupils at Gallions Mount primary school have made a giant dragonfly sculpture with the help of a local artist.
The 9ft insect, made from stainless steel, coloured sign writers' plastic and copper cistern balls for eyes, was made with the help of sculptor Margaret Higginson.
The sculpture has a fluorescent light in the body, which lights up at night.
Head teacher Margaret Wyeth said: “The sculpture provides us with a focal point in our school wildlife area.”
She added: “It's great to arrive in the mornings to see it glowing like a beacon on the school wall.”
