EASTLEIGH’S street cleansing team has been voted the best in the UK for the sixth year in a row, writes Ellie Cotten.
The borough won the Street Cleansing Performer award at the Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) awards.
The street cleansing team have to deal with everything from graffiti and vandalism to dog fouling and litter.
A total of 373 miles of highway are swept and litter picked during the year with 864 litter and dog bins emptied at least three times per week in the borough.
Town centre and shopping area bins are emptied seven days per week and the team has also been awarded a Green Flag for Brookwood Cemetery for the 11th year running.
