Eastleigh by-election latest: former Lib Dem activist defects
10:06am Sunday 10th February 2013 in Politics
A former Lib Dem activist and local party chairman has defected to the newly formed National Health Action Party as the Eastleigh by-election battle heats up.
Dr Graham Winyard, who was also the Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England and Wales, accused politicians of all parties of betraying the NHS and said the mid-Staffs scandal was the direct result of meddling and bullying by both Labour and Tory governments.
Dr Winyard , who is the ex-Chair of Winchester and Chandlers Ford Liberal Democrats, is calling on the constituents of neighbouring Eastleigh to vote for the candidate representing the National Health Action Party in the by-election at the end of the month.
The NHA Party announced their Eastleigh candidate on Friday - local doctor and former Navy medical officer Iain Maclennan. The NHA party was founded in November by a group of healthcare professionals to safeguard and improve the NHS.
Dr Graham Winyard: " The voters of Eastleigh have a unique chance to demand a return to the original values of the NHS by voting for the National Health Action party."

He was selected as the PPC for the Green Party and has opportunistically jumped ship to this new outfit.
A very sad day for local green activism.

Give it a rest, that's at least 3 times you have done this in the last 24 hours. If TUSC can't get out a proper media release to all concerned I'm sure the Echo will not take any notice of your continual amateur prompting.

The National Health Action Party could split up the Right Wing Vote right up, good to see them taking part more political partys the better.
According to you that's every political party except TUSC. So, is it your hope you will charge through the split and disoriented right wing parties to a glorious victory?
We all have dreams, don't we?

Why do you persist in giving TUSC legitimacy when clearly they are a bunch of whack jobs and nutters with 0 influence and negligible political support within southampton.

With my ear to the ground I must say your earlier post was the truth, half the truth and nothing but the truth.
Would you perhaps like to fill us in on the missing half? You know, the decision taken NOT to fight this by-election despite having earlier selected Ian Maclennan as the Eastleigh prospective Green candidate.

At the end of WWII we had MASSIVE DEBT and all this scaremongering is just that.
Always voted Tory, but this lost leaves me speechless. I will never ever vote for them again. LibDems stand for absolutely nothing other than self interest and Labour are also fatally flawed, as is UKIP.
While all attention at Westminster was focused on whether to allow gay marriage, this Coalition Government did something furtive – something that is not only much less liberal, but coldly terrifying.
Under the cover of the furore, it quietly disinterred the corpse of its ‘Secret Justice’ Bill. This Bill creates extraordinary new legal powers to keep official dealings hidden from us.
It changes all the comforting certainties about the rule of law in Britain.
This is the reality of a society regulated by secret justice: a legal system weighted irredeemably in favour of those in power.
The legislation had previously been watered down considerably, and wisely, by the House of Lords. Now, it is not just as bad as it was when introduced last year. It’s even worse.
Under the resuscitated Bill, matters involving State security will usually be heard at secret ‘closed material procedure’ hearings. They will be attended only by security-vetted ‘special advocates’. Those involved in cases against official bodies will be permanently unable to know about the evidence deployed against them.
The new revised draft, the product of the final session of the Bill’s committee stage, was forced through by a majority of one. The Ulster Democratic Unionist Ian Paisley Jnr cast the critical vote.
This took place at precisely the same time as the same-sex marriage debate was happening in the main Commons chamber, which is why all this went virtually unnoticed. Source below:

Dying of disease, hypothermia and malnutrition as a result of not having enough electricity to meet demand is a Green solution to our problems. So hey presto, the UK population declines by 10 million to meet our new erratic supply a bit painful at the time but a Green death is a good death, eh?
(Funny how the Greens are always too scared to apply this logic to Africa though - a bit too close to eco fascism and racism when you try and export your home policies onto someone else)
The Green movement is a half baked mishmash of ill informed students, luddites left wingers looking for another way to power, and plain old fashioned hypocrites.

In a theoretical world where you did, you would find that only having a slogan, ‘No Cuts’, instead of well thought out fiscal policies, would be a severe disadvantage. You see in the real world (not your utopian Trotskyist dream) councillors have to make fiscal decisions that reflect both their council’s income (over which they have little control) and the services they wish to spend this income on.
That is real politics in the real world. Unfortunately fantasy politics will be of absolutely no use whatsoever if you actually achieved some elected representatives. But we don’t need to worry about that for the foreseeable future, do we? After all the electorate have got the measure of your tiny band of entryists; that’s why you get hardly any votes every time.

It really doesn't matter what percentage of wards/seats you contest - only winning gets you councillors.
In the 1992 general election, the Natural Law Party stood in 310 constituencies – that’s just under 50%. It got 0.19% of the vote, with every candidate losing their deposit.
You see, it’s not contesting seats that determines your ‘size’ – it’s winning seats. You're a long, long way off doing that.

Either way, I hope the NHA make a big impact. The coalition are intent on destroying what the OECD rated as one of the most efficient health systems in the world (much cheaper than the US and most of the EU, and more effective with it). MGRA has clearly swallowed a large amount of propaganda. The NHA are very much needed to defend one of the few reasons we have to be proud of this country, and prevent them from selling our lives to their friends at Virgin, Circle and the rest.

1) Nu-Labour's (SHA) Socialist Health Association advocates the Fluoridation of all drinking Water.
2) Nu-Labour's (SHA) Socialist Health Association advocates adding Fluoride to Milk ( when all Milking Cows will be drinking Fluoridated Water ?)
3) Nu-Labour's (SHA) Socialist Health Association advocates the promotion of Fluoride products in all Schools, Anti-natal sessions etc.
THE SOCIALIST HEALTH ASSOCIATION WAS FOUNDED IN 1930 TO CAMPAIGN FOR A NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE AND IS AFFILIATED TO THE LABOUR PARTY.
Evidence to the Health Select Committee 2007.
We are a membership organisation with members who work in and use the NHS. We include doctors and dentists and other clinicians, managers, board members and patients. Our members are involved in a wide variety of consultation and involvement processes in health and social care. We are particularly concerned that dental services are available to all who need them and that they contribute to improved oral health and reduce inequalities.
It must be recognised that the provision of NHS dental care services is one aspect of improving oral health. PCTs also need to provide or commission community based oral health promotion programmes eg WATER FLUORIDATION, OTHER FLUORIDE USE SUCH AS FLUORIDE VARNISH PROGRAMMES, FLUORIDATED MILK PROGRAMMES, DENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMMES IN SCHOOLS, ANTI-NATAL SESSIONS ETC. The successful implementation of such preventive programmes, in conjunction with practice-based prevention will reduce the future need for treatment.

Going by reports in last weeks Echo I suggest you address your twaddle to the fine people of Eastleigh, they say Iain Maclennan looks like a Tory candidate.. more recently he's taken on the air of an extra in a remake of Carry on Doctor, so that's Ok.

if the NHA Party haven't stolen Nu-Labour's policies why do they want them strangled at birth .?
The National Health Action Party must be strangled at birth. It can only prosper at the expense of the only truly NHS party – the Labour Party.

A question for all the standing candidates.
Why isn't (SHA) South Central Strategic Health Authority Fluoridation Eastleigh's water an issue in this By-Election?..
We know Nu-Labour Socialist Health Association advocate the Water Fluoridation of all drinking Water in the UK.
AFAIK: NHA Party has never bought up the F word and as (SHA) South Central Strategic Health Authority supporters I can only conclude they also advocate the Water Fluoridation of all drinking Water in the UK.
