Construction of Trowbridge’s new cinema is well on schedule, with the building officially handed over to ODEON this week.

The St Stephen’s Place development should be completed by October, in time for the autumn half-term and the Trowbridge Arts Festival. The handing over of the cinema means interior work can now begin on the seven screens, while the adjacent hotel is due to be handed to Premier Inn in August, when work will start kitting out the 80 bedrooms.

A new entrance to the site has also been formed, and construction has started on the final remaining restaurant unit.

Tim Russell, of Legal and General Property, said: “The cinema handover marks a major milestone in the project delivery and the scheme is now visibly drawing towards its final exciting stages of development.

“The scaffolding and sheeting to the hotel are due to be removed in late June, when the full extent of the development shall begin to be revealed.”

Works over the next few months shall include formation of the parking areas, the creation of new walkway across the River Biss and completion of the restaurant units.
