PLANS for a 120-home development on a former Hovis bakery site have been approved despite concerns of nearby residents.
Eastleigh Local Area Committee approved Taylor Wimpey’s plans to build a mix of flats and houses on land off Toynbee Road in Eastleigh.
Planners had received 14 letters of objection to the plan, citing concerns about an increased traffic, the scale of the project, its potential impact, potential flooding and the plans for cycle links.
But a council report recommended that the plans, which include parking and an area of open space, should go ahead.
Production at the Hovis bakery ended in February last year before being moved to Chandler’s Ford. The buildings will be demolished as part of the development.
