THE owner of a shop on a Southampton high street has won permission to sell alcohol.
Abdul Aziz Mahmud faced the city council’s licensing and gambling sub-committee over his plans for Twoj Sklep in Shirley Road.
He had applied to sell alcohol from 8am to 11pm, seven days a week, but one resident had objected, saying the surrounding area already experiences trouble with drunk people littering and urinating in bushes.
But the committee voted to approve the licence bid, with new conditions imposed on agreement with Hampshire Constabulary.
These include installing a new CCTV system, giving staff extra training and running a challenge 25 policy.
