A DEVELOPER is one step closer to submitting its planning application for new homes in a Hampshire village.

HAB Housing, which was established by Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud, says that it will shortly be sending city planners the plans for 50 homes on land off Lovedon Lane in Kings Worthy.

There will be six one-bedroom flats, ten two-bedroom houses, 14 three-bedroom houses, 11 four-bedroom houses and nine five-bedroom houses.

‘Rich mix’ In an email update sent to subscribers, the developer said: “We believe this rich mix can meet a wide range of demand as well as encouraging a vibrant, mixed community.”

The proposals also include allotments, fruit trees and edible planting in communal areas.

The email said: “The wider scheme provides the opportunity to double the size of Eversley Park and create a number of shared amenities which could include: ecological grassland meadow; mile-long cycle, running and walking track; allotments and natural children’s play area.

“We have proposed that a significant lump sum be paid to the parish council for future maintenance and/or the provision of additional community amenities.”

The plans come as part of Winchester City Council’s Local Plan Part Two, which requires 250 homes to be built in Kings Worthy until 2031.

Last year the parish council voted to support building off Lovedon Lane.

HAB Housing’s communications and sales director Simon McWhirter said: “We are pleased to confirm that we will shortly be submitting a planning application for our proposals at Lovedon Lane following extensive consultation.

“The scheme delivers a number of benefits for the community, including a high quality design, affordable housing and a significant amount of public open space.”
