Labour leadership hopeful Liz Kendall today visited Southampton her battle to lead the party.

The shadow minister for care and older people is one of four politicians fighting for the leadership.

This afternoon she visited Sprinkles Gelato in Above Bar Street to speak to staff and customers on the latest stop of visiting 13 cities in three days.

The Leicester West representative served ice cream from behind the counter before tucking into a strawberry cheesecake and honey comb ice cream while chatting over the store's sales with business development manager Rashidul Islam.

She pledged to fight for small business, rebuild the economy, help the NHS, invest in technology and IT and to do all she can to wrestle seats like Southampton Itchen back from the Tories.

She added that leadership favourite Jeremy Corbyn's plans are "not right" for the party.

She admitted she is the "underdog" in the race but said: "Don't write me off yet.

"Just because times are tough doesn't mean you stop. Great leaders don't crumble when times are tough."
