A PUBLIC inquiry has got underway into plans for 230 homes in a Hampshire village.
Representatives for Eastleigh Borough Council and for developers Sheet Anchor Properties are going head to head in front of a planning inspector on an appeal for 230 homes at Netley Abbey.
The hearing, which started this morning, heard from a number of residents and councillors who expressed their concerns about plans for the site, off Grange Road, including council leader Keith House.
They raised fears about flooding, traffic problems, access to the site, the effect on the character of the village and the lack of infrastructure such as schools and doctors to cope with these new residents.
And the meeting heard plans had been downsized from 250 homes to 230.
Around 40 residents were at Hound Parish Centre in Woolston Road for the hearing which is expected to last three days.
