ANOTHER person has been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of a Southampton dad.

Michael Freshwater was found at a home in Westridge Road in the city on Friday and police say that they believe the motive behind the attack may be drug-related.

Seven arrests have been made by police as they investigate the death of the 49-year-old, who was known as Micky.

Yesterday police arrested more people, including a 23-year-old woman from Southampton on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

A 24-year-old man from the city was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and assisting an offender.

Both have been released and bailed until July 6.

A 22-year-old Southampton man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs has been bailed until July 5.

On Saturday police arrested a 26-year-old man from the city on suspicion of murder, and he has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Twenty six-year-old Ashton Singh, of Westridge Road, has appeared in court charged with perverting the course of justice and has been remanded in custody.

Detective Superintendent Becky Riggs said: “This remains an active murder investigation and we continue to encourage anyone who can assist us with our enquiries to come forward.

“We have arrested a number of people as part of this investigation in order to ascertain the exact circumstances leading up to, during and after the incident. “We are utilising a significant amount of resources and we continue to deploy investigative tactics at every opportunity to secure evidence and get justice for Michael and his family.

“We continue to appeal for information and would like to hear from anyone who may have information surrounding this incident to contact us, in confidence. Tell us what you know.”
