A government minister visited one of the city's most famous landmarks as part of a grand tour around the UK.
Minister for Faith and Integration Lord Bourne visited Winchester Cathedral on his tenth stop of a country-wide grand tour of all 42 cathedrals in England.
Through the visits, Lord Bourne hopes to highlight the role of English cathedrals as hubs for diverse communities and faiths, as well as their economic and social contribution to their local areas.
Lord Bourne said: “I’m very pleased to be visiting Winchester to learn more about the part the cathedral plays in the city, particularly in their interfaith work. Over the coming year I will be championing the great efforts being made nationwide to keep cathedrals at the heart of community life.
“I hope that people around England join me in appreciating our rich Christian heritage, learning more about these beautiful buildings and help preserve them for future generations.”
