HEALTH bosses in the region have not been made aware of any GP surgeries or dental practices being forced to close on Wednesday.

Areas such as podiatry and chiropody will be affected and non-essential appointments may be postponed as staff are relocated to cover elsewhere.

South Central Ambulance Services are expecting some employees to strike, including paramedics and control room staff, but have said all emergency call outs will be responded to.

In the mental health sector managers have been told to clear their diaries to cover vital clinical roles and patients with appointments scheduled for Wednesday are advised to call ahead first.
