ENDING traffic chaos in Fareham and putting a halt to plans to build 7,000 house to the north of the borough are the top priority for Green Party candidate, Peter Doggett.
The 52-year-old grew up in Fareham and after many years working in London as a music journalist, the successful author returned to his hometown five years ago.
Peter, who is married to a local primary school teacher and has two daughters, was drawn to the Green Party by his concerns about the threat of climate change and believes traffic chaos is suffocating Fareham.
He said: "Locally, I'm campaigning for better public transport services, an end to the traffic chaos that is suffocating Fareham, and cycle lanes that are safe for people to use.
"The planned Tesco store in central Fareham will harm local businesses and add to the town's traffic problems.
"Greens believe that instead of cutting vital public services, we should be investing for the future, by supporting schemes that will produce 'green' jobs, in recycling, insulation, installing solar panels, etc.
"We are strongly opposed to the 'new town' development between Fareham and Wickham. Our children need green fields, not more traffic jams and pollution."
