Terry Scriven, Lib Dem, New Forest East
TERRY Scriven is Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for New Forest East Colonel Terry Scriven was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, in 1946 and at the age of 15 he left school with no qualifications to join the Army.
There began an distinguished career with the Royal Military Police which included peace keeping operations in Cyprus with United Nations, serving alongside the Gurkhas in China, counter-insurgency operations in Northern Ireland and supporting NATO forces in Bosnia.
The 64-year-old and his wife Jan moved to North Gorley in the New Forest 15 years ago and in 2006 Col. Scriven was chosen as the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for New Forest East.
From 2004 to 2008 he was chairman of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Learning and Skills Council and is a member of the New Forest Association, Hampshire Wildlife Trust and Hampshire NHS Partnership Trust.
In his spare time the father of one enjoys looking after his small holding of sheep, geese, chickens and his dog Tilly.
Mr Scriven said: "Issues in the New Forest that need to be addressed are many.
"There are problems with employment, traffic, speeding, bus and train links and police presence.
"There are lots of things to do - and I'm the person to do it."
