GOOD things have happened in threes for Wycombe RFC this week.

First, inspirational captain Craig Murray returned to the club from Henley Hawks and played his first game last week, helping them to a 27-24 win over Wallingford.

Second, that victory took them up to second in the table as other results worked for them and, finally, wandering star Keiran Mann was back training with the club this week after returning from America.

The feel-good factor at Kingsmead is back.

Head coach Paul Gaster said: “This is the best crop of players we’ve had here in years. I strongly believe we are good enough to go unbeaten to the end of the season. It’s a tall ask, but if we can eradicate the errors I believe we could win every game. It can be done.”

They will have to be better than they were on Saturday though, when they conceded 24 points in a row to Wallingford. Fortunately, they had raced into a 27-0 lead in the first half.

Gaster said: “The players thought they were coasting and we could easily have lost. But we were second towards the end of last season and we’re up to second again now so it’s very positive.”

They have a cup bye this weekend.
